Summary

EU2AI focuses on the application of a gamification concept to the training of artificial intelligence for distance learning, in order to improve the overall characteristics of the student for motivation and participation in online courses. An assessment system will be designed to track the student's progress and students will be guided with the necessary feedback.

Description

The topic of artificial intelligence is currently one of the most popular scientific fields in the world. Research and future predictions on artificial intelligence show that it will play a major role in shaping the future. The United States and China continue to lead the world in this regard. The European Commission and member states agreed to join forces on AI policy and investment in 2018. The revised coordinated plan on AI was published in April 2021. Maximizing resources and coordinating investment is one component cornerstone of the Commission's AI strategy. Through the Digital Europe and Horizon Europe programs, the Commission plans to invest € 1 billion per year in AI. It will mobilize further investment from the private sector and Member States in order to reach an annual investment volume of € 20 billion over this decade. In addition, the recently adopted Recovery and Resilience Facility is making € 134 billion available for digital and will change the rules of the game, enabling Europe to amplify its ambitions and become a global leader in developing cutting-edge AI. It is reliable.

These developments in artificial intelligence also show the size and importance of the topic. Working in the field of artificial intelligence technologies individually or institutionally is very difficult in terms of skills. Cooperation is inevitable in this regard. However, as the competencies of each institution differ, it does not seem institutionally possible to reveal important components such as training materials related to artificial intelligence. We want to bring together the strengths of institutions and develop innovative training materials that meet the needs of the workforce by combining their skills. Therefore, our project focuses on the application of a gamification concept to the training of artificial intelligence for distance learning, in order to improve the overall characteristics of the student for motivation and participation in online courses. An assessment system will be designed to track the student's progress and students will be guided with the necessary feedback.

Objectives

EU4AI has which objectives (IO):

1) Gamification-based e-learning platform

2) Artificial intelligence course modules for the elearning platform

3) Evaluation system to measure student performance

UNINETTUNO Role

UNINETTUNO will be responsible for IO2: Artificial intelligence course modules for the e-learning platform
During the preparation phase of the project, KA2 projects related to AI and gamification were examined. In the field of artificial intelligence, no gamification-based projects have been found. This project is innovative because it is the first project to teach artificial intelligence by applying gamification techniques.

The intention is to develop an e-learning platform, with related educational contents, which includes gamification activities, and to organize a pilot.
