Introduction

This project is concerned with the modularization of continuing education and professional development by micro-credentials in higher education (CEF) in the context of the evolution of European policies. In particular with reference to the Recommendation of the European Commission to the Council on microcredentials in the steps planned for the period 2021-2025 for the implementation and recognition of microcredentials in the Member States. Summary

This project is concerned with the modularization of continuing education and professional development by micro-credentials in higher education (CEF) in the context of the evolution of European policies.

Description

This project is concerned with the modularization of continuing education and professional development by micro-credentials in higher education (CEF) in the context of the evolution of European policies. In particular with reference to the Recommendation of the European Commission to the Council on microcredentials in the steps planned for the period 2021-2025 for the implementation and recognition of microcredentials in the Member States. MCE will contribute to the further conceptualization of micro-credentials as milestones for the expansion of Continuing Education and Professional Development (CEPD) and transformative institutional developments in interaction with national and EU policies and frameworks.

Objectives

The objectives of MCE are the following

  • Further develop and operationalize the concept of micro-credentials in European universities, taking into account the students' perspective on modular education and micro-credit formats;
  • support institutional development to organize and create the conditions for the development of transformative modular education and micro-credentials;
  • Provide a database for dialogue with national policy makers and developing EU policies in the field of continuing education and professional development and European frameworks for micro-credentials.

UNINETTUNO Role

UTIU will be leader of WP5 and partner of WP1,2,3,4,6

Specifically in WP5:
The objective of WP5 is to test the design and development of modularization and micro-credentiality by involving all the actors through case studies and pilot projects, responding to the requests and expectations of students, the economy and society. To test educational change, institutional stakeholders jointly conduct a "reality check" through case studies and pilot projects in which each of them takes on their specific role as designer, expert consultant, organizer, administrator or leader. These exercises will impact how all actors view their role in the development and organization of micro-credentials and how this can be further scaled in line with university policies. The aim is to strengthen and test modularization and micro-credentials according to the agenda and context of each institution.
