Workshop "Current and Rediscovered Scaling Laws: New Perspectives and Initiatives in Fusion Research" with Prof. Bruno Coppi of MIT

Science and research protagonists again of a workshop organized by UNINETTUNO: it is the “Current and Rediscovered Scaling Laws: New Perspectives and Initiatives in Fusion Research”,  the meeting held on June the 19th at UNINETTUNO Multimedia Hall which had as protagonist, Prof. Bruno Coppi, professor of physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and winner of the Feltrinelli Prize for Chemistry and Physics in 2016.

Following the progress made in basic physics, this workshop showed that new programs in which they try to identify and outline possible realistic paths for controlled thermonuclear fusion were undertaken. In particular, recently proposed or rediscovered scaling laws for significant experiments that are based on sound considerations on both physics and technology were highlighted. This led to a reassessment of research activities, also involving other disciplines.

Among the participants in the workshop there were also Michele Romanelli (Jet, United Kindgom), Renato Gatto (Sapienza), Piero Spillantini (INFN) and Alessandro Cardinali (ENEA Frascati). The debate was moderated by Clemente Cesarano (UNINETTUNO) and Renato Spigler (RomaTre/UNINETTUNO), organizers of the event.
