It was given the project official start up, introducing it to all partners, representatives from Universities, Ministries and press.
The project organisation and its committee functions was illustrated, the appointment of committee members was ratified and the presidents and vice-presidents elected.
It was confirmed that NETTUNO and EUTELSAT are responsible for the Didactic and Technological Architecture Sub-Project, and that Prof. Garito (NETTUNO Director General) will chair the committee for the didactic issues and Ing. Patacchini (EUTELSAT Multimedia Department Director) will chair the committee for the technological ones
It was confirmed that Politecnico of Torino is responsible for the University Scientific Committee, and that Prof. Naldi (Deen of the Engineering Faculty) will chair the committee
It was confirmed that Fondation Sophia Antipolis is responsible for the Scientific Committee for Vocational Training, and that Prof. Blanchet (Rector of the Académie de Paris) will chair the committee.
The kick off session was closed with the appointment of the presidents and the committee members, and it was open the first meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean Steering Board.

The meeting was held to introduce to the Embassy the Med Net’U project, its first phase that allows the enrolment of the students form the Mediterranean countries, that speaks fluently Italian, to the distance University degree courses of Italian Universities that belong to NETTUNO network, and to announce the kick off meeting. The support that the Embassy will provide to the project was agreed.

Focal points role and function were explained. The possibility of co-operation with the Med Net’U project were examined as well as the possibility for Tunisian partner to be co-financed by the Tunisian Government through the focal point.
