The course introduces the basic concepts of theories and practices of Media Education, in view of its planning within the secondary school. Particular attention is given to the operational and educational aspects of the discipline, in order to give students the opportunity to activate Media Education paths in their own teaching activities. |
The course intends to present in an introductory way some of the main contents of Media Education (both related to the institutions and the communicative dynamics of the media, and to the pedagogical theories of reference) and intends to develop a basic media competence in function of the autonomous activation of some Media Education activities in one's daily teaching activity in the contemporary secondary school. |
The course will present the following contents: definition of Media Education; reference theories (deriving from both communication sciences and education sciences); introduction to media competence; critical framing of the history and dynamics of media and digital communication; analysis of media education experiences, related to specific media (video, photography, advertising...); examples of media-educational activities in the digital school. |
