Course description
Course main objective is to show how psychotecnologies impact on cognitive processes, extend mind potential and modify interaction models among people coming from different cultures. Course will analyze the historical flow from technology to psychotechnologies: from physical abilities and body capapabilities improvements tools, to cognitive and intelligence enhancing. Special attention will be paid to communication technologies and their specific languages, to theri historical sequenciality, to knowledge transfer communication models and therefore to teaching methodologies and learning processes: from orality to writing, to electricity, from analogic to digital technolgoies. The course will explore the ways psychotechnologies, and specifically the Web, influenced socialization dynamics, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and how the shift from collective intelligence to connective intelligence has took form.
Program
First part of the course will offer to students theorical tools for stdying and analyzing the relationship between communication technologies and cognitive processes; specifically, the course will explore the existing links between technologies and psychology. The course will analyze how different media impact and modify users and environment.

The second part of the course will be focused on the analysis of one of the most relevant branches of psychotechnologies: basic design and web design. Design process will be analyzed according to cognitive sciences, cognitive psychology, information architecture perspectives, both exploring conceptual paradigms and through practical examples.

Video lectures will be integrated with interactive Virtual Classroom sessions, in which teachers, tutors and students will explore how new information and communication technologies impact on teaching and learning models, with special reliefs on socio-constructivist approach regarding teaching and learning, and to theoretical and practical models of collaborative learning and cooperative construction of knowledge.
