Course description
The course aims to present an overview of the main management methods and techniques used in the field of industrial contexts to achieve the objectives of Quality.
Prerequisites
Requires an adequate knowledge of statistical methods. Basic knowledge of metrology, although not essential, may be of help.
Objectives
The course objectives are as follows: - To develop the sensitivity of pupils around the concepts of quality of a product / service-oriented design competition; - Draw attention to the general problem of measuring quality; - Provide an overview of the standards in terms of quality.

Introduction to the concepts of Quality. Background. Time evolution of the tools for Quality. Names and terms of Quality. Definition of a reference scenario. Quality and Metrology. Quality in the design. Concurrent Engineering. QFD. Benchmarking and definition of the profile of a product. The problem of measuring the quality. Offer quality, perceived waiting. FMEA project and process. Cost of Quality and non-quality. Quality services. The concept of service. Definitions and features of the services. Differences and similarities between quality of service and product quality. The assessment of quality in services. Statistical process control and quality in production. Quality and statistical control. Product specifications and tolerances. Variability and natural tolerance of the process (process capability). Sum of tolerances. Control charts for variables and attributes. Procedures for the management of control charts. Cards for the analysis of control conditions. Elements of the theory of the inspection. Acceptance control samples. Operating curves and characteristic parameters. On attributes and variables. Full sample. Characteristic parameters and types. Rules and regulations for the conduct of the quality system. The Quality System Italy. ISO 9000 standards.
