Specific objectives of the course
In line with the reform objectives, the Bachelor’s programme in economics and business management (CLEGI) is divided in two paths, a general and a specific one, both focusing on the tourism business management and economics.
The three-year programme will provide students with the appropriate methods, general scientific knowledge and professional business dynamics, as they can choose between the following paths:
professional activities within the corporate and economic public enterprises, private, profit and non-profit sectors, including the social and the services;
- professional activities in the economic sector specifically in those businesses directly or indirectly active in the tourism sector;
continuing studies always in a class of the same LM Framework specification.
The training is completed and enriched through an osmosis with the territory and with the residents, both private and public, as well as networking with universities and centres of excellence not only national but also from the European Union and other associated countries.
In general, the degree course in economics and business management (CLEGI) the development of skills, knowledge, skills related to administration and management, both companies from all sectors of the tourism sector constitute specific qualifying educational goals; the performance of corporate functions and processes often represent a critical area for the enterprise and for its competitive ability (from the resource manager, production and processing, sale and after-sales service, marketing and corporate communication); solution of problems among productive sectors/areas and the same company (the financial and commercial; administrative area and production, logistics, etc.)
The coverage of these professional profiles requires the development of managerial skills as well as implementing the ability to take decisions, work in a team, hiring and/or delegate responsibility to manage original solutions in a short time.
In particular, the course aims to train people capable of covering professional positions and/or to assist managers and consultants from public and private companies holding management roles but also to carry out professional activity in management consulting companies and other organizations.
The CLEGI is structured to: study the decision-making defining business and, specifically, those working in the tourism sector; boost students’ strategic and business management skills, crucial to the accessing a management position; offer students a type of multidisciplinary training in order to improve their ability to analyze business phenomena, especially when closely related to handling realities and complex phenomena such as macro-environmental and social dynamics – this would see students take autonomous decisions and manage complex systems independently, leveraging on previous vocational training and apprenticeship activities envisaged in curriculum; to develop an issue analysis method that is both systematic and rational.
The presence of training activities in mathematical-statistical SSD has the objective of contributing to form in members of the Course the necessary preparation and adequate familiarity with tools, analysis processes and methodologies about useful decisions upon the end of their training.
Graduates will have a fair command of spoken and written English and a second foreign language of choice (Arabic, French, Spanish or German, in addition to Italian). They will also have skills relating to information management tools and methods with data processing and telematic methods.
The fundamental nucleus of studies consists of business disciplines (business administration, economics and business management, corporate finance, accounting and budgeting, planning and control), analysed in all their components and according to a logic of interoperability.
These components are close to solid economic skills (political economy, economic Policy, industrial economics and applied economics) and legal skills (private law, public law, commercial law and financial law). The course is offered entirely in English language with the possibility for subscribers who request to be added to some basic courses in virtual classrooms receiving video lessons in English.
Graduates can take any of the following positions:
employee or consultant in the areas of assistance to the Directorate, commercial sector, planning and budgeting, marketing in medium and large companies, mainly in the private sector (both for-profit and non-profit), but also public administrations;
- employee or representative of management and financial consulting companies for small businesses in manufacturing and services, also related to tourism sector;
- other entrepreneurial possibilities especially in the tourism sector.
The common training for the two addresses has been distinguishing teachings among the training activities and educational activities and, for the remaining credits, offering to the subscribers qualifying training activities for each of the two addresses. Basic knowledge provides solid preparation in the business, economic, legal, and linguistic-mathematical statistician disciplines, whose teachings are considered introductory, is provided during the first year.
They are intended to form a solid base that is necessary for cultural insights in the subsequent phase of qualifying training oriented in two different addresses (General and tourist enterprises) towards the creation of more operational skills that can be spent in the labor market.
The Organization of the training objectives of the degree course has been optimized according to the typical characteristics of a telematic University (modularized teaching). The educational process runs through the provision of video lessons supplemented by tutoring activities carried out in the forms of interactive teaching, aimed at developing analytical capacities and critical synthesis of the student. For each of the thematic areas of basic training activities, including languages, a tutor is provided every 30 students enrolled in virtual classroom in every delivery and a "thematic teacher".
It is also planned to use educational media and online platforms for the enrichment of video lessons, student support, Exchange and deepening the material object of lectures/seminars and, upon request, meetings with tutors and teachers.
The exam is a written assessment test that must be preceded by the admission by the tutor after a learning path through intermediate self-assessment tests.
The final evaluation of examinations is expressed through a vote at thirtieth and tests are structured so as to appreciate the candidate's maturity in reworking critical content of each individual lessons.
This is also applied to other supplementary educational forms for which you scheduled the suitability (computing for 6 ECTS).Students have the opportunity to be engaged in internships (2 CFU) at selected producers, government agencies and/or private companies in various sectors, in accordance with the curriculum of study chosen.
The goal is to familiarize students with a direct knowledge of the dynamics and management, organisational issues.

Knowledge and Understanding
Graduates choosing CLEGI in the General path acquires a solid preparation in business disciplines, from business bookkeeping system and the annual financial statements, in addition to economic ones for proper mastery of mathematical-statistical tools and of the principles and institutions of the legal system. In the tourist firms sector you study the application of modern accounting economic techniques touristic firms, paying attention to the specific tourisms types and characteristics of the sector.
The training enables the graduate to acquire a theoretical knowledge and practical responses to the various professional fields into such disciplines as well as its possible continuation in advanced courses.
At the end of the course of study the graduate matures a strong and autonomous understanding of issues related to economics and business, of a general aspect and applied to tourism businesses. All educational activities (lectures, tutorials, mentoring, networking equipment, etc.) are aimed at learning the necessary knowledge to use in the workplace. The final examination of each individual discipline tends to verify if the student is able to analyze and apply the solution of concrete cases that he will face in the workplace.
The final exam for each discipline, tends to evaluate the acquired ability to critically rework teaching contents, to ensure knowledge of the subject and the link with the disciplines already encountered in the course of studies already carried out also through the examination of a practical case.
Applying knowledge and understanding
CLEGI graduate acquires the ability to apply knowledge in order to carry out the job in a professional way.
He has mastery of the conceptual and analytical tools for interpreting and solving business and accounting problems, is able to apply his knowledge and understanding in order to demonstrate a professional approach to employment positions to employee or consultant in the areas of assistance to the Directorate of trade, planning and budgeting, medium and large sized marketing mainly in the private sector (both for-profit and non-profit), but also public administrations; an employee or representative of company management and financial consulting for small businesses in manufacturing and services, also related to the tourism industry; other entrepreneurial chances, especially in the tourism sector.
During the training course, participants can start applying the skills learned during the training activities planned in order to experience daily problems and difficulties whether they be private companies, government agencies and other institutions.
In particular, the graduate CLEGI has all the necessary skills to keep the accounting system of enterprises, draw up and interpret the financial statements, develop economic and financial calculations, formulate business strategies, analyzing and solving calculation problems of direct and indirect taxes as well as of the constitution, functioning and cessation of business and companies, both in general terms and applied to tourism businesses.
To exercise these skills all educational activities (lectures, tutorials, mentoring, networking equipment, etc.) are targeted to learn necessary knowledge, to possible applications in the workplace and to the capacity that the student has to apply them in actual cases.
The final exam for each discipline wants to make sure whether the student, facing a situation never faced before, can manage it and can apply the knowledge acquired.
The basic subjects are thought to be applied (e.g. through "learning by doing"), considered that the mission of the Faculty of Economics and business management, especially in TRIENNAL education, must be to educate people to elaborate and face with ability the concrete cases that he will find during the different work functions and in the subsequent deepening of its studies.
CLEGI graduate has the ability to gather and interpret the relevant quantitative and qualitative data to formulate evaluations and/or feasibility and/or convenience of dynamics business in which he operates and its representation
He has abilities in problem-solving and decision-making that are applied to business situations in which there are objectives, constraints, and poor information. The graduate has problems analysis skills and awareness of its information management capacity for the elaboration of the final decisions. CLEGI graduate has organizational capacity in accordance with the work plan and its timing, he is able to coordinate small workgroups, respecting the business organizational models, he knows how to use appropriate methods and techniques of evaluation, also based on statistical or accounting models; he is able to relate with critical capacity on its work.
During the final exam for each discipline the student will give one critical judgment and his own opinion on what has been learnt and applied.
The graduate CLEGI can communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions to actors at various levels (directors, managers, employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders) that relate to the company in which he operates. At the end of his training he internalized the skills and tools for the management and communication of information, especially considering the telematic instrument with which he followed the training course.
Some activities carried out in working groups tend to measure communicative abilities of each individual student. Also the evaluation of the training course is useful for this purpose.
The CLEGI graduate develops learning skills useful to continue higher education in economics and business; He is also able to handle basic cognitive tools for cultural growth and continuous autonomous updating of his knowledge, which can use sources in English language and in other European languages.
He is able to keep updated about the methods, techniques and instruments typical of disciplines learned during Bachelor; follow the evolution of business issues and identify upgrade needs and take action against them; undertake more advanced studies.
Everything will be checked during exams.
Knowledge required for access (DM 270/04, art 6, paragraph 1 and 2)
To be admitted to the Bachelor of science in economics and business management you should possess a secondary school diploma or other formal qualification awarded abroad recognized suitable from the undergraduate degree. With rules laid down in the regulation, the knowledge of some basic elements will be verified: Elementary Algebra; Comprehension and writing texts; Knowledge and ability to read and interpret facts of economic and corporate news; Territorial nationally and internationally knowledge; National and Community institutions; Fundamental historical events especially economical events.
If the University finds a number of shortcomings, the educational regulations dictate forms of retrieve.
The final examination (DM 270/04, art 11, codicil 3-d)
The final exam is worth 4 ECTS and can taken after students have acquiring the remaining 176 ECTS. It consists in drafting a brief report (as described in the regulation of the final test approved by the Faculty Council and available on the website of the University) on a subject connected with the specific issues of the study plan, in which the student demonstrates the ability to critique or orderly processing building and the acquisition of specific skills. The final note will be calculated according to the criteria established in the regulation.
Employment and career opportunities for graduates
Upon graduation, the CLEGI aims to offer its graduates a work placement enabling them to acquire kick start their managerial careers in different business functions (Administration, finance, marketing, organisation, production and technology, etc.) and in different types of companies (public and private, profit and non-profit) but also for consulting activities in various areas of business management. The acquired education will empower graduates to continue their studies, following master courses or enrolling in the Bachelor’s programme, immediately or after a period of work, according to the logic of continuous learning well established by the European social and institutional context.
