In the design and definition of the Master's Courses – as it is for the Degree Courses – the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO complies with the ECTS (European Credits Transfer and Accumulation System), which has been developed since 1989 within the ERASMUS European Mobility Programme and formalised with the Sorbonne Declaration and the Bologna Process. The ECTS system is based on the workload required to the student to attain the objectives set in the study course.

In order to obtain the recognition of 1 training credits the student has to carry on 25 hours of training activities; according to the educational model developed and implemented by UNINETTUNO, the student, for each module, is involved in training activities including:

• Video lectures , recorded by the best lecturers of the most renowned national and International universities and, in the case of the Master's courses, by international institutional personalities; the video lectures are indexed by subject and include hypermedia bookmarks linked to the more-in-depth study materials; according to UNINETTUNO model, the student has to watch the video lectures twice at least;
•  More-in-depth study materials are associated to the video lectures; they can be texts, essays, articles, bibliographical references, lists of websites, presentations and slideshows, more-in-depth study sheets on specific issues;
• Exercises, practice work and virtual laboratories are associated to the courses and enable the students to put into practice the theoretical knowledge they learnt during self-study sessions as well as in collaborative learning sessions under the supervision of an expert teacher guiding the group practice work following a Socratic tutoring model;
• Synchronic and asynchronic collaborative learning sessions in chats and forums , with chat-rooms and forum-rooms associated to each module; the teacher/tutor fixes meetings on the agenda on weekly or be-weekly basis, specifying the day, hour and subject of the chat session ; a regular meeting allowing the students to clarify any doubts and analyses specific issues treated during the video lectures that are planned during the week, and to the teacher/tutor to monitor the overall progress of the class and check whether there any problems in the learning process; in the forum , instead, the tutor proposes further issues and analyses and invites the students to discuss the issues being treated, animating the debate and collective and more-in-depth study sessions;
• Virtual classrooms, live more-in-depth study meeting, on live web streaming through UNINETTUNO virtual classrooms, or on Second Life on UNINETTUNO Island of Knowledge where lecturers, visiting professors, experts in the field present contributions, case studies, success stories related to the issues treated in the module thus enabling students to interact in real time, to ask questions and get an immediate answer, and to the teachers to check the class learning process in a set time.

Based on the structuring of the model of course delivery, UNINETTUNO calculates that for each ECTS credit being delivered the students reaches 25 hours of activities required by the ECTS model through:

•  2 hours of video lecture and virtual classroom – to be watched twice for a total of 4 hours of activities;
•  5 hours of more-in-depth study of the training materials;
•  10 hours of practice work and virtual laboratories;
•  6 hours of collaborative learning sessions.

Actually, this leads to a total amount of 25 hours of training activities.
