HISTORY AND EUROPEAN CULTURE
Course delivered in: Italian, English
Objectives: The lessons’ primary aim is represented by the analysis of the historical chains of events which have contributed to render effective one sole possible reality. Every single happening weighs on the history of our Europe, just as within the folds linking two great centuries, between the Eighteen and Nineteen hundreds is hidden the sense of our present. And yet a new hope is opening up before our eyes, that of becoming once more masters of our own destiny, of managing the day-to-day situation where the dangers of clashes are possible, not as States, but as “men” and “women” of the XXI century.
Program: The principal themes to be considered in depth during the lessons centre around: the definition of the XX century, of Europe and of its basic characteristics. All this will be done through analysis of the main historical events which have proved capable of revolutionizing the balances, systems and rivalries of the great States and ruling empires. All this leading to an uneasy look at a difficult present-day where freedom, equal rights and social rights need to be defended.
