The partnership between the Italian academic world and the Moroccan one gets stronger: two excellence-level universities – the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO and Al Akhawayn University – signed an important agreement that leads the higher education of the countries of the Mediterranean Region to make great steps ahead.
The agreement, strongly wished by both Rectors  – professor Maria Amata Garito and professor Driss Ouaouicha – was signed in the presence of the Minister of Education, University and Research, Stefania Giannini,  and by the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executives’ Training, Lahcen Daoudi.
The main points of the agreement envisage a collaboration on research programs; teachers’ exchange; production of a joint educational offer and the launch of joint vocational training courses (specializing courses and I and II level master’s courses).
The work will be carried on through mixed committees to design shared curricula and deliver study titles that will be recognized in Morocco, in Italy and in the rest of Europe.
The agreement, additionally, will allow UNINETTUNO and Al Akhawayn to work together in the development of e-learning programs for the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes in the aim of supplying a global educational service for all  the students of the Mediterranean Region, of Africa and of Europe that would be otherwise unable to attend the degree courses delivered only face-to-face.
“Our two Universities – the Rector says – base their own educational activities on the principle of granting a democratic access to knowledge and of sharing learning so that everybody gets recognized his right to study and education, regardless of students’ gender, religion, langue and economic and social status”.
Actually, both universities are strongly engaged in the development of modern academic programs and in the use of new technologies meant to enhance their own excellence models and to better answer the needs of the labor market.
With its digital learning platform – unique worldwide in 5 languages (Italian, English, French, Arabic and Greek) – UNINETTUNO University is a global leading university for e-learning and relies on a unique psycho-pedagogic model, unique in its genre and highly innovative since it puts the student at the centre of the learning process. Through indexed video lessons which are linked, in an hypertextual and multimedia way, to essays, articles, exercises, virtual laboratories, selected bibliographical references, the student becomes the protagonist and active construction of his own study and learning progress. Being always assisted by a tutor who, thanks to virtual tools (chats, forums, virtual classrooms, e-mails), checks his path interacting with him.
Al Akhawayn University’s mission, at a cutting-edge in the Moroccan academic world, is the education of the citizens of the leading class and relies on global educational system, based on an American curriculum and on the use of the English language. Its main objective is to contribute to the development of Morocco thanks to educational programs and research projects meeting the best academic and ethical standards, promoting as well equality and social responsibility.
